With the SWIS and Seniors Programs at the Canadian Tenors’ Performance
The world renowned Canadian band Tenor performed at the Air Canada Centre in front of a sold out crowd on November 24, 2015. Among the audience who watched with awe as they performed are newcomers students from the Multicultural Clubs at Bishop Morroco/ St. Mary’s Secondary Catholic School, members of CultureLink Seniors’ groups and other newcomer families from various programs of CultureLink Settlement and Community Services (CultureLink).
Thanks to Mr. Ronald Rojas, with support from Celia Cruz-Hew, of the Settlement Workers in Schools Program, who orchestrated the event, the generous donation of free TTC token, and concert tickets from the Kids Upfront Foundation, the youth and other newcomer participants had their experience of a lifetime. Some student who attended the event are very new to the country, about three months, and attending a concert at the Air Canada Centre is a first time experience.
The newcomer youth and seniors alike clapped along with the happy tunes. Barrels of popcorn and drinks were enjoyed, as well, while listening to the unique sound of the Canadian Tenors.
Special thanks to the CultureLink staff and volunteers who made sure that the students had a safe ride and enjoyed the concert safely.
What a night to remember indeed!
