For many year’s CultureLink’s Community Connections Mentorship Program has been working in partnership with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC). This partnership helps newcomers to Canada achieve success in career and life. On October 15 we held a Recruitment / Mentoring Event with CIBC. More than 30 people attended this event including newcomers to Canada, CIBC Senior Banking Leaders and CIBC Human Resources People.
Out of all the candidates, seven are now in negotiations with CIBC Human Resources for a successful career with the bank. An additional eight candidates may become part of the retail banking division if they fulfil certain conditions. And seven candidates were referred to different departments of the Bank for other opportunities. Each candidate who participated in the mentorship event got contacted by CIBC Human Resources with the job opportunity or feedback.
From Client to Mentor
The star presenter was a former CultureLink client, now a member of CIBC staff. He spoke to the candidates about his experience with the Bank and about expectations of the role he got. He was present from start to finish of the event to support our newcomer clients. He answered questions related to banking, different roles and the hiring process.
Participants commented
One general manager who attended said: “It is my third time attending a recruitment day and each time I enjoy it more. Looking forward to future events.”
Another senior banking leader said: “Thank you so much for such a great event. I cannot emphasize more on how grateful these newcomers to Canada would be to you for the help and stage that you are giving them. Feeling great and proud to be part of the great team of TSW and also partnering with CultureLink.”
The impact of such a strong partnership between CIBC and CultureLink can be seen on the happy faces of participating people.
