ON Indigenous Land

ON Indigenous Land is an initiative aimed at fostering meaningful connections between youth from racialized communities and Indigenous Peoples. Through a series of engaging activities, this project endeavours to empower participants to become leaders in their communities by bridging divides and fostering understanding.

Our project focuses on three core activities:

  1. Training: Participants will undergo a comprehensive six-week training program facilitated by esteemed partners such as the Centre for Indigenous Research and Policy and the Institute for Change Leadership. Modules will cover Indigenous awareness, anti-racism, and the use of storytelling as a tool for community advocacy. By the end of the training, participants will craft personalized Land Acknowledgements, reflecting their newfound knowledge and respect.

  2. Community Mobilization: Armed with their training, participants will collaborate on community actions guided by Indigenous elders, youth, or organizations. This hands-on approach allows them to apply their increased awareness and leadership skills to effect positive change.

  3. Knowledge Sharing: We believe in amplifying the impact of our project through digital documentation and interactive theater. A videographer will capture key moments and testimonials, while we partner with Mixed Company Theatre to implement Forum Theatre—an UNESCO-recognized educational tool for social change. Participants will contribute their experiences to script development, culminating in a powerful performance that highlights their journey and insights.

Join us in building bridges, fostering understanding, and empowering youth to become respectful and stalwart allies to Indigenous Peoples.
