The Youth Leadership Program is an education and leadership initiative held between CultureLink Settlement and Community Services and the UNHCR.
This initiative recruited 10 young people between the ages of 18 and 24, who did not have any experience in refugee issues or stories, and helped them engage in the narratives and different experiences from refugees in Canada.
The program encourages young people to become active agents of change in their own community, and to help others learn about the different barriers and issues that refugees face around the world, but particularly in Canada.
The desired outcomes of this program are to help these young people build more confidence in their public speaking skills and to make them aware of the issues that refugees face on a daily basis.
